Warframe, the free-to-play third-person shooter with online elements ala Destiny is gearing up for its biggest update: Plains Of Eidolon. As it was first revealed, this will add a whole new open world to explore and battle in, making it more similar to an MMO game rather than doing missions in the usual procedural generated maps.
During developers Digital Extreme’s latest dev stream, over 22 minutes of gameplay was shown featuring this new location, which includes a market hub for new vendors and quests, new side activities such as mining, and a day-night cycle.
Since the maps are large, you can also traverse it using the archwing, which allows players to [...]
Well, this is awkward. Blizzard announced last year they will phase out the use of the Battle.net name. Battle.net was the multiplayer structure that powers games before it was a commonplace feature, but now serves as the name of Blizzard’s launcher on PC.
The name change was supposedly to get all Blizzard products a unified name- not every gamer today was there when the name Battle.net made sense. So they slowly phased out the Battle.net name and rename the launcher as the Blizzard App.
Looks like they are backing down on the name change. “Battle.net is the central nervous system for Blizzard games and the connective tissue that has brought Blizzard players [...]
Game Informer has some new details on how the HQ works in Call Of Duty WWII. Imagine the Tower in Destiny, the HQ is a social space, an instance of up to 48 players can hang out in a period-accurate camp. It is not just a hub to wait for matchmaking, but a space you can explore, interact with fellow soldiers and do a lot of things.
One peculiar feature is that you can open loot boxes here in HQ. Interestingly, you can also spectate other people open loot boxes and stand a chance to win prizes. How this will work is not clear, but the idea of rewarding people watching loot boxes can be a bit sleazy if you think about it. Surely looking at all the cool cosmetic stuff would [...]

Filling in his vacancy is Casey Hudson, former project lead for the Mass Effect series who left the company for Microsoft Game Studios.
Hudson left Bioware three years ago, a period where we saw Dragon Age Inquisition released, Mass Effect Andromeda having development issues and a new IP, Shadow Realm, announced and then cancelled. But after three years working on “disruptive [...]
